Week 8 | Nanotechnology + Art

Development in physics and engineering promoted the invention of various kinds of nanotechnologies which can facilitate the further investigations and explorations in many other fields of science. The development of nanotech is in within the field of physics&engineering, or at least have some overlap with the field I study, so I have a little bit of knowledge, impression, and expectations on this nanotechnology field. After viewing Professor Vesna's lecture videos, I wish to express ideas about nanotechnologies from my point of view.


Nanotechnology

One of the most crucial breakthroughs and inventions in the field of nanotechnology, from my perspective, is the Nanorobotics. Nanorobotics are well-designed tiny robots at the scale of nanometer, and such robots can serve great number kinds of tasks in multiple scientific fields.


Nanorobotics-Medical Level

Medical Nanorobotical Pills

For example, medical used nanorobotics, including the nanomedicine type, virus-based&bacteria-based, biochips, and surgury-level robots. These nanorobotics can serve the tasks of investigating body parts of patients, binding to the cells inside the body to cure the disease, and integrating and fixing the damaged part or organs of patients diagnozed by the doctors. Such actual usage of nanorobots in the field of medical science provide a new pathway forward and great possibilities. Some tasks that are considered impossible might have some chance to be done with the aid of these robots compared to the developing medical environment and technologies in the past. More lives can be saved, and the medical sciences can achieve more development under these nanotechnologies with infinitely great potentials.


Nanotech Chips

Besides the utility of nanotechnologies in medical sciences, there are also some ways that nanotechs can be exploited in the field of other natural sciences, such as chemistry, physics (particle physics, etc. which is one of the field I studied) as well as engineering. For intance, the production based on the nanotube and synthesis of nanoparticle can all lay important foundation to the further exploration in chem and physics, while the production of high-precision chips also require the integration of engineering knowledge&skills with nanotechnologies. 


Nanotubes

Nanotechnologies nowadays apparently become one of the most cutting-edge and most important field of study in the development of froniter sciences. The usage of nanorobots, nanotubes, nanochips, as well as some other ways used in various kinds of sciences all mark the era of nanotechnologies to come! I firmly believe that with the gradual progress we made on this nanotech field, we can get more benefits as time passes!
